Pit Take BBQ in Greensburg will host a hog roast from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 12 to benefit Friends of Firefighters.

The charity, which promotes mental health and wellness support services to members of the Fire Department of New York, was formed 20 years ago in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in which 343 New York firefighters died in the collapse of the World Trade Center. Additional information is available at friendsoffirefighters.org.

Dan Czerpak is the owner of the local restaurant on North Main Street that specializes in Southern BBQ. He said the event, which will feature live entertainment, is an effort to recognize and give back to those who run toward danger every day.

Tickets for the hog roast, which will include traditional BBQ, side dishes and desserts, are $15. Items are available for takeout. Party platters for those planning to take in the Steelers game that day also can be ordered.
