WVU players go back-to-back for 2nd round in a row
West Virginia players went back to back for the second consecutive round Saturday when the Seattle Seahawks took wide receiver Gary Jennings and the New York Jets selected tight end Trevon Wesco in the fourth round (picks 120 and 121).
Jennings, 6-foot-1, 214, enjoyed an outstanding junior season, rising to second team All-Big 12 and earning WVU’s Offensive Player of the Year honors with 97 catches for 1,096 yards, but only one touchdown. He caught 54 passes for 917 yards last season, playing with a high ankle sprain in the second half of the season. But he scored 13 times.
Wesco, 6-3, 267, was mainly a blocker over his first two seasons in Morgantown before assuming a more prominent role in the passing game last season, with 26 catches for 366 yards while being named All-Big 12 by conference coaches.
Friday night, West Virginia quarterback Will Grier and offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste were picked consecutively near the end of the third round.
