With Steelers win, 'Pittsburgh finished it' T-shirts already a thing

After the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns at Heinz Field on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, Commonwealth Press began advertising “Pittsburgh finished it” T-shirts.

That’s some seriously fast turn around.

The game wasn’t even over — although a Pittsburgh Steelers victory over the Cleveland Browns was assured by a Joe Haden interception — and T-shirt companies in Pittsburgh jumped into action.

Two — Commonwealth Press and Steel City Brand — delivered what Pittsburghers were yearning for.

The Pittsburgh-based screen printing companies’ latest T-shirt designs were a no-brainer: “Pittsburgh finished it.”

It is finished.

The shirt takes its cue from the Cleveland-based GV Art + Design company’s tee that proclaimed “Pittsburgh started it,” referring to the melee that ensued at the end of the teams’ last meeting in the Mistake by the Lake on Nov. 14.

The Browns-sided shirt has been a buzz in the two weeks since the game, which resulted in a number of players suspended and fined.

Even Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens was seen sporting the shirt this past week.

It was no secret I was critical of coach earlier this season, but after spotting Freddie Kitchens rocking @gvartwork’s #PittsburghStartedIt shirt tonight, he’s A-OK in my ?!

Already got mine for THIS Sunday and this makes me even more PUMPED to wear it!! #CLEvsPIT #Browns pic.twitter.com/oKYabSgG9Q

Steelers fans were none too pleased with the shirt, and public outcry was enough to send Commonwealth Press to the drawing board.

“We got so many requests for this and WHO ARE WE to not give you what you want … so here you go,” the company declared on its website and social media.

Commonwealth’s $20 shirt is available in six sizes from small to 3XL. And shipping is free. The shirt is available only online at compressmerch.com.

Steel City’s version is $29.99, and comes on a soft, heathered black, poly-cotton blend tee with a textured look. Steel City has seven sizes, from x-small to xxx-large. It’s also only online at shopsteelcity.com. It begins shipping Dec 5.

With the holiday shopping season in full force, we see this being a hot-ticket item in the ’Burgh.
