KANSAS CITY, Mo. — JuJu Smith-Schuster’s return to the active roster for the Pittsburgh Steelers has resulted in wide receiver Cody White being designated as one of the team’s five inactive players Sunday night.

Other players who won’t suit up for the wild-card game against the Kansas City Chiefs are defensive tackle Carlos Davis, running back Anthony McFarland Jr., inside linebacker Tegray Scales and No. 3 quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

Smith-Schuster was activated from injured reserve Saturday and will play in a game for the first time since he injured his right shoulder in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos. That led to more playing time for fourth wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, but it also created opportunity for White, who played in each of the final 15 games of the regular season.

White finished the season with five catches on six targets for 33 yards and three first downs. He also played 24% of the Steelers’ special teams snaps.

McFarland couldn’t get a spot on the game-day roster even with starter Najee Harris showing up on the injury report during the week with an elbow injury. Harris was listed as questionable Friday but the Steelers upgraded him Saturday.

Davis played in a three-game stretch late in the season but he is inactive for the second week in a row.

The Chiefs scratched cornerback Rashad Fenton, who started eight games during the regular season, with a back injury. The inactive players for the Chiefs were quarterback Shane Buechele, wide receiver Josh Gordon, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, running back Darwin Thompson, defensive end Joshua Kaindoh and tackle Prince Tega Wanogho.

Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs starting running back, missed his third consecutive game with a shoulder injury. His replacement will be Darrell Williams, who was limited in practice this week with a toe injury.
