Bowling Green’s Austen Swankler, a Norwin graduate, was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Forward of the Month for the second time during the 2022-23 season.

Sophomore Austen Swankler, a Norwin graduate, was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Forward of the Month for a second time this season.

Swankler extended his NCAA-leading scoring streak to 18 games. During that run, the Bowling Green forward has 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points.

He had 10 points (two goals, eight assists) over a six-game stretch.

Swankler, a nominee for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, was leading the conference in assists (22) and points (38) and was second in goals (16).

Men’s basketball

Cal (Pa.): Sophomore forward Kadyn Hannah (Franklin Regional) was averaging 3.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 18 games for the Vulcans. Hannah transferred from La Roche.

Carlow: Freshman guard/forward Brevan Williams (Greensburg Central Catholic) scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but the Celtics fell to Alice Lloyd, 90-53.

Delaware State: Senior 6-foot-11 forward Brandon Stone (Southmoreland) scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench in a 71-66 victory over Coppin State.

Pitt-Greensburg: Reggie Priah scored 18 points, senior JoJo France added 17, senior Micah Jones had 14 and junior Octavius Hardy tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Bobcats (9-12, 4-5) won at Hilbert, 86-60.

Saint Vincent: Freshman Jaden Gales had 19 points, sophomore Mike Iuzzolino added 18, junior Oyson Jones 15 and grad student Shemar Bennett 15 as the Bearcats brushed past Chatham, 79-72.

Gales received a unique honor last week when he was named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week. He had 35 points and 11 rebounds in a 101-91 win over Washington & Jefferson in overtime.

Bennett was named the PAC Player of the Week.

Seton Hill: Behind 19 points from junior Sean Dillon and 18 points and 10 rebounds from senior Samuel Tabe, Seton Hill defeated Slippery Rock, 83-72, to move to 13-9 overall and 8-8 in the PSAC.

West Liberty: In one word, junior Bryce Butler (Latrobe) this season has been efficient. Butler is averaging 22.7 points and 7.6 rebounds and shooting 61% from the field, all while averaging just 29 minutes.

Women’s basketball

Edinboro: Freshman guard Maura Suman (Penn-Trafford) scored a career-high 12 points in 23 minutes in an 80-63 loss to Gannon. Suman has played in all 20 games and is averaging 14.6 minutes.

Florida Tech: Sophomore Sarah Liberatore (Hempfield) had 11 points in 29 minutes, but FTU fell to Eckerd, 80-55.

Grove City: Senior guard Megan Kallock (Greensburg Salem) was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Player of the Week. She scored 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting to lead the Wolverines to their fourth victory in a row, 66-45 over Bethany.

Sophomore guard Mara Polczynski (Norwin) had seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

In the next game, Kallock put in 27 points, including four 3s (10 for 14 FGs), and Polczynski scored 12, to go with four rebounds and four assists, in a 91-83 win over Chatham.

IUP: Freshman Anna Rafferty (Latrobe) made her first college start against East Stroudsburg. She had two points and two rebounds but played only eight minutes for the Crimson Hawks, who won 71-53.

Rafferty had a 15-point game earlier in the season.

Pitt-Greensburg: Sophomore Melina Maietta (Greensburg Central Catholic) broke a school record she shared with assistant coach Kelsey Oddis (Burrell) with eight 3-pointers in a 62-48 victory over Hilbert.

Maietta made 8 of 11 3s and finished with 26 points, and senior Sidney McCully gave the Bobcats 14 points and 11 rebounds in the road victory.

Saint Vincent: Senior Ella Marconi had 17 points and nine rebounds, and sophomore Emily Thompson and junior Emily Cavacini chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively, to lead SVC to 58-47 victory over Allegheny, the 12th win in 13 games for the Bearcats (16-4, 14-3 PAC).

Seton Hill: The Griffins improved to 16-9 overall and 9-7 in the PSAC with a pair of wins, 65-60 over visiting IUP and 63-61 at Slippery Rock.

The latter victory was the 200th for coach Mark Katarski.

Against IUP, on a night Seton Hill celebrated the 100th anniversary of its first women’s basketball season, junior Christiane Frye had 22 points, junior Sakeria Haralson added 16 and 11 rebounds and freshman Helene Cowan had 13 points. Frye connected on four 3-pointers.

Freshman Hallie Cowan (19), Frye (16) and grad student Alie Seto (12) scored in double figures against Slippery Rock, and Haralson, a transfer from Monmouth, pulled down 14 rebounds.

Haralson was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week.
