Hempfield grad Jenna Uncapher competes in the heptathlon for Clarion track and field.

Clarion senior Jenna Uncapher (Hempfield) and sophomore Leah Perry (Derry) competed in the heptathlon at the Messiah Multi.

Uncapher opened the Messiah Multi with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.89 seconds.

She tied for fourth in the high jump (1.50 meters) and won the shot put (9.89 meters) with the best throw of her career.

Perry posted a career-best high jump of 1.53 meters.

In the 200, Perry was fifth in 27.61 seconds, and Uncapher took seventh (27.73).

Perry was fourth (5.11), and Uncapher seventh (5.02) in the long jump. Uncapher ended up third in the javelin (29.68), and Perry came in 11th (21.80).

And lastly, in the 800, Uncapher ran to a fourth-place finish (2:37.27), while Perry was ninth (2:42.65).

Overall, Uncapher finished third in the heptathlon with 4,162 points, and Perry was fifth (3,919).

Women’s track and field

Carlow: Grad student Olivia Miller (Ligonier Valley) was named the River States Conference Field Athlete of the Week after a nationals-qualifying effort.

Miller broke her own school record in the triple jump, and also took down the program’s long jump mark at the Robert Morris Midweek Bonanza.

Her first-place triple jump mark was 11.60 meters, while she checked in a 5.34 meters in the long jump for third place.

For good measure, she also set a personal record in the javelin (30.05 meters).

Saint Vincent: Junior Lauren Brennan posted a time of 11 minutes, 3.30 seconds in the 3,000-meter run to set a Bearcats’ outdoor record at the Bucknell Bison Classic. Brennan knocked 50 seconds off of her previous best time.

Seton Hill: Junior Isabella Myles captured a win in the 10,000-meter run at the Thiel Invitational.

Softball

Cal (Pa.): Junior Charity Henderson (Southmoreland) is hitting .347 with nine doubles, two triples, four home runs, 26 RBIs and 22 runs for the Vulcans (17-18, 10-9 PSAC).

Mercyhurst: Junior pitcher Morgan Hilty (Penn-Trafford) improved to 12-5 on the season as she allowed just three hits over five innings in an 11-3 win over D’Youville.

Hilty has a 3.39 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 18 appearances.

Ohio: Sophomore Emma Hoffner (Hempfield) went 4 for 7 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs in a three-game series against Kent State. She was hitting .358, second-best on the team, and had 23 RBIs.

Penn State: Grad pitcher Bailey Parshall (Belle Vernon) upped her season record to 14-8 with a 3-0 shutout of Rutgers. She allowed four hits in the complete-game win, and struck out five against one walk.

Pitt: Freshman Haylie Brunson (Mt. Pleasant) was hitting .238 with a home run, seven RBIs and 11 runs scored in 29 games for the Panthers.

She hit a game-tying home run in a wild, 10-9 victory over Georgia Tech in eight innings.

Pitt-Greensburg: The Bobcats (8-16, 4-2 AMCC) swept past Alfred State (N.Y.) on the road by scores of 8-5 and 3-0.

In the opener, sophomore pitcher Melanie Mienke struck out seven and helped her cause with a triple, while senior Ashley Noel (Latrobe) went 4 for 4, and junior Kacey Weller 3 for 4.

Six Bobcats had at least two hits.

Senior Laila Smith pitched a complete game in a 3-0 win, allowing four hits and walking one in seven innings. The offense produced 16 hits in the second win, three each by junior Madison Stonbraker and Weller.

Pitt-Johnstown: Four area players are seeing substantial playing time for the Mountain Cats.

They all have played in more than 20 games.

Senior Laura Fox (Hempfield) had a .240 average with two homers, nine RBIs and 14 runs scored in 34 appearances, while sophomore Hannah Gnibus (Mt. Pleasant) was batting .235 with five RBIs in 23 games, freshman Jenna Tallman (Latrobe) was hitting. 186 with two homers and nine RBIs in 34 starts, and freshman pitcher Mia Smith (Penn-Trafford) was 8-8 with a 4.70 ERA, 93 strikeouts and 43 walks. She had 14 complete games and had given up 114 hits in 101 1/3 innings.

Smith also had a .217 average at the plate with 10 RBIs.

Robert Morris: Junior Faith Miller (Southmoreland) doubled and drove in two runs in a 7-2 win over Purdue Fort Wayne.

Saint Vincent: Junior Alex Dillner (Norwin) notched her 100th career hits as the Bearcats defeated Westminster, 3-1. She went 2 for 4, while Katelyn Stokan drove in two runs for SVC (20-8).

Seton Hill: The Griffins (22-12, 15-5 PSAC) made it seven straight wins with a sweep of Mercyhurst.

In a 5-3 win, junior Lauren Dellett (13-4) tossed a complete game with six strikeouts and no walks, while sophomore Grace Paredes and sophomore Bre Athey hit home runs. Dellett helped her cause with two doubles.

Paredes had two RBIs.

The second game went to extra innings, and Paredes hit a solo homer in the top of the eighth for the difference.

Freshman Camryn Murphy drove in three runs for Seton Hill.

Murphy earned PSAC West Athlete of the Week, while Delett picked up the conference pitcher of the week honor.

Westminster: Sophomore Sydney Lokay (Norwin) went 2 for 3 with two RBIs to help Westminster (20-6) to a 9-1 win over Grove City.

Men’s track and field

Allegheny: Junior Jake Boord (Hempfield) tossed the javelin 64.71 meters, to break his own school record, at the Bucknell Bison Classic. He placed fourth in the event.

Boord was named the PAC Field Athlete of the Week.

Saint Vincent: Junior Tim Patterson ran to a pair of standout performances at the Bucknell Bison Classic.

Patterson posted the fastest time in the PAC this season in the 5,000-meter run, at 15 minutes, 1.70 seconds. He added a second-place finish in the 1,600-meter run with a program record 4:20.89. He finished ahead of several Division I runners.

Seton Hill: Senior Hunter Martin (Belle Vernon) won the long jump and 110-meter hurdles, freshman Cody Scherle (Norwin) won the javelin, sophomore Gabe McConville took first in the 1,500-meter run, and grad student Donavin Meriweather won the 800 at the Thiel Invitational.

Women’s lacrosse

Seton Hill: Sophomore Grace Agnello was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week. She contributed 11 points over a pair of wins, including three goals and three assists against Slippery Rock.
