Delaware lineman Fintan Brose is on the NFL radar.

Not only that, but Brose, a Hempfield graduate, is eligible to get selected to play in college football’s longest-running all-star game.

Brose (6-foot-2, 302 pounds) was named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list.

The list is intended to highlight the top players who are not only eligible for the all-star game but also who could be NFL Draft picks or free agents.

Brose played in four games last season after back-to-back All-Coastal Athletic Association third-team seasons. He has made 26 starts in his career.

He also was selected to the Athlon Sports 2025 Preseason Conference USA All-Conference third team.

Delaware, which is moving to Conference USA this year for its inaugural spot at the FBS level, is one of seven players from that conference to make the 1000 list.

Marcus Barnes, a former safety at William & Mary who played at Jeannette, made the list last year. He went to rookie camp with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl will be Jan. 27 at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

The Blue Hens open the season at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 against visiting Delaware State.

Women’s tennis

Saint Vincent: Jym Walters, who coached the Bearcats women from 2014-17, is returning as head coach.

He replaces Brian Niemiec, who will remain as an assistant while also serving as head coach of the men’s tennis team.

An SVC alum, Walters has been an assistant for eight seasons. He was the Bearcats women’s lacrosse coach from 2012-23.

Walters was the PAC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year in 2016.

A former field hockey and girls lacrosse coach at Latrobe, he has the most wins of any lacrosse women’s coach at the college, with a record of 106-83.
