The Griffins have been taking games down to the wire lately: Four recent games were decided by a total of 10 points.

They knocked off IUP, 65-60, at home during their 100th anniversary celebration, then went on the road for a pair of nail-biters — wins of 63-61 at Slippery Rock and 72-71 at Clarion.

A thriller at McKenna Center came next, but the Griffins (17-11, 10-9 PSAC) fell just short against visiting Edinboro, 101-99, in double overtime.

In the loss, junior Christiane Frye erupted for a career-high 39 points, tying the program single-game record set by Kelly Brennan in 2015.

Frye made 15 of 26 shots in 47 minutes.

Grad student Alie Seto scored 14 and eclipsed the 1,500-point mark for her career in the loss. Seto scored more than 1,100 of those points at Washington & Jefferson.

Rana Elhusseini had 38 points, and Bella Burelli added 26 for Edinboro.

Freshman guard Maura Suman (Penn-Trafford) played 36 minutes and had six assists for the Fighting Scots.

Chatham: Freshman Alyssa Laukus (Norwin) had 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists in an 89-60 victory over Allegheny. Chatham shot 54% from the field in the victory.

Grove City: Senior Megan Kallock (Greensburg Salem) had 14 points and six steals, and sophomore guard Mara Polcynski (Norwin) added seven assists and three steals as GCC defeated Waynesburg, 88-44, for its sixth straight win.

Pitt-Greensburg: Senior Sidney McCully scored a game-high 23 points, pulled in 13 rebounds and grabbed eight steals, and freshman Madison Scalese added 10 points and 13 rebounds in a 72-53 victory against Penn State Altoona.

Sophomore Melina Maietta (Greensburg Central Catholic) added 16 points, and freshman Tiana Moracco (Derry) had 10 rebounds for the Bobcats, who combined for 18 assists.

The Bobcats (12-11) then defeated Pitt-Bradford as senior McCully had 23 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

Maietta also tallied 23 points, while freshman Chloe Lukondi made 6 of 7 shots for 14 points.

McCully was named the AMCC Player of the Week.

Saint Vincent: The Bearcats won for the 13th time in 14 games, rolling over Thiel, 60-34, to move to 17-4 (15-3 PAC).

Ella Marconi, a 6-foot-2 senior center, snatched 17 rebounds in the win.

Westminster: Sophomore Mackenzie Powell (Penn-Trafford) contributed eight points and four rebounds in a 72-67 victory over Geneva.

Men’s basketball

Lehigh: Senior guard Reed Fenton (Latrobe) made a start and had a team-high 14 points in 33 minutes, but the Mountain Hawks fell at Colgate, 81-53.

Pitt-Greensburg: Five Bobcats reached double figures in scoring in a 78-68 victory over Pitt-Bradford. Senior Micah Jones led the way with 16 points, freshman Armend Karpuzi added 14, freshman Matthew Marinchak (Ligonier Valley) had 12, and junior Octavius Hardy and senior JoJo France each chipped in 10 for UPG (10-13).

Seton Hill: Seton Hill pushed past visiting Edinboro, 103-81, to clinch a postseason berth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for the first time since 2018-19.

Five players reached double figures in scoring for the Griffins: junior Sean Dillon (23 points), senior Samuel Tabe (16 and 10 rebounds), junior Ryan Meis (16), senior Drew Green (14) and senior Jimmy Moon (13).

West Liberty: Junior Bryce Butler (Latrobe) pumped in 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds as No. 12 West Liberty clubbed Glenville State, 82-70.

Wrestling

Army: Freshman Ethan Berginc (Hempfield/Jeannette), ranked No. 14 in the nation at 125 pounds, used three takedowns to score a 9-1 win in his match as West Point beat Drexel, 20-12.

Iowa: Redshirt senior Spencer Lee (Franklin Regional) earned an 11-2 major decision, with two takedowns and a near-fall, to help No. 2 Iowa to a commanding, 33-8 victory over No. 9 Michigan.
