Derry graduate Justin Huss has emerged as a key contributor in his second season with Washington & Jefferson.

Justin Huss did some things on the football field at Derry you might call “special.”

A tightrope-run down the far sideline for a huge gain. A defense-defying cutback for a touchdown. A breakaway run up the middle for six.

His field vision was one of his best attributes and it still is for the Washington & Jefferson sophomore.

Huss earned plenty of respect from opposing coaches as he was named to the All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference First Team on special teams.

Huss led the PAC with three return touchdowns and was leading NCAA Division III in kick-return average (38 yards per return) heading into the Presidents’ quest to SUNY-Brockport for the Clayton Chapman Bowl.

He had two returns for touchdowns and ranked sixth in the PAC with 1,142 all-purpose yards.

Huss was named the PAC Special Teams Player of the Week three times.

Grove City: Sophomore Gabe Dunlap (Penn Trafford) was named to the All-PAC Second Team on special teams. Dunlap, a kick returner, led the conference in punt return average (8.8) and also averaged 21.9 yards per kickoff return.

He also started all 10 games at cornerback, where he had two interceptions and 36 tackles.

Dunlap had three tackles and an interception as the Wolverines toppled Utica, 49-7, to win the ECAC Scotty Whitelaw Bowl and finish the season 8-3.

Mercyhurst: Senior Jason Armstrong (Latrobe) was named to the All-PSAC West First Team. The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder had 37 receptions for 400 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 10.8 yards a catch.

Saint Vincent: Sophomore wide receiver Molayo Irefin and grad linebacker Cam Norris were selected to the All-PAC Second Team.

Through nine games, Irefin had 61 receptions for 809 yards and five touchdowns and had four 100-yard games.

He led the PAC in kick-return average (23.9 yards) and all-purpose yards (1,503).

Norris had 53 tackles, 12.5 for loss, and seven sacks.

Junior quarterback Brady Walker, who threw for 2,437 yards and 20 TDs while completing 60.7% of his passes, was an honorable mention pick.

The Bearcats (5-5) were set to play in their first bowl game since 2011: the James Lynah Bowl in Madison, N.J. against Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham.

Seton Hill: Grad student running back Logan Wiland and senior linebacker Jaylen McDuffie were named to the All-PSAC West First Team, while redshirt senior linebacker Jayden Emberton-Gaines was selected for the second team.

Wiland led the PSAC in rushing with 1,236 yards rushing and had 10 touchdowns.

McDuffie led the Griffins with 105 tackles — 50 solo and 11 for loss — to go with two forced fumbles, a blocked punt and a fumble recovery.

And Emberton-Gaines led the Griffins with 53 solo tackles (95 total). He had three sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and a blocked punt.

Women’s tennis

Saint Vincent: Senior Maura Skelley and junior Angela Popovich (Hempfield) were named to the All-PAC First Team in both singles and doubles, where they played a a tandem.

Skelley was 6-5 at No. 1 singles and won her final four matches. She was 27-12 in her singles career.

Popovich went 8-4 at No. 2 singles (6-1 PAC) with all of her wins coming in straight sets. She is 20-12 for her career.

Skelley and Popovich combined for a 7-4 mark in doubles, winning five in a row to close the season. They reached the PAC quarterfinals.
