Former Seton Hill guard Kameron Taylor is playing in the NBA Summer League with the Phoenix Suns.

When Kameron Taylor played at Seton Hill he had a propensity to deliver big shots at big moments.

The smooth-shooting guard out of Landover, Md., was a 20-point-per-game scorer as a senior in 2016.

Now, he is looking for his big break.

Taylor has found his way to the doorstep of the NBA as he plays for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

Taylor, a 6-foot-6 guard who played for DeMatha Catholic in high school before earning all-conference and all-region accolades playing in the PSAC, has appeared in three games and is averaging 4.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 14.2 minutes.

The 27-year-old, who initially entered the 2016 NBA Draft, is an unrestricted free agent looking to find staying power with the world’s top professionals.

He has played overseas and bounced around seven teams since he left Seton Hill, where was a four-year starter. Taylor played last season with the Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Basketball Premier League and then the SIG Strasbourg of the Basketball Champions League Europe.

He also has played for clubs in Germany and Hungary, averaging 23.4 points across 24 games with the Dragons Rhoendorf in 2017-18 and 19.2 a game in 44 contests with Pesci VSK-Veolia in ’18-19.

Ritson hired

A former Hempfield volleyball standout has joined the women’s volleyball coaching staff at Duquesne.

Alexis Ritson was announced this week as an assistant for the Dukes under coach Steve Opperman.

Ritson played college volleyball at Geneva.

Opperman called it a “homecoming” for Ritson.

“We look forward to Alexis bringing her volleyball knowledge, ball control expertise, defensive prowess and analytical tactics to our program,” he said.

Ritson was a graduate assistant for two years at Southern Arkansas and spent one year at SUNY Morrisville and one year at Gannon, both stops as an assistant. The former libero also was a two-year coach for the Infinity Volleyball Club in Ohio.

“I cannot wait to get to work with the Dukes close to home in Western PA this fall,” Ritson said. “I want to thank Steve Opperman for the opportunity to learn from and help him and the whole staff as we continue to move the volleyball program forward.”
