Westmoreland campus clippings: Seton Hill men's lacrosse clinches conference crown

Seton Hill celebrated under the lights in Ohio.

Now its postseason future looks bright.

The men’s lacrosse team clinched the Great Midwest Conference regular season title with a 13-5 victory Wednesday night at Walsh.

Senior Peyton Gensler led the offense with a hat trick and an assist, while senior midfielder Andy Davis also scored three goals.

Redshirt senior Josh Miller had 12 saves for the Griffins (10-4, 6-0).

Miller, a grad student, was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week. Miller helped the Griffins to two wins last week, as he gave up six goals and made 13 saves.

Men’s lacrosse

Saint Vincent: Senior Jordan Billett notched a career-high 12 points on eight goals and four assists as the Bearcats thumped Franciscan, 26-7. Billett reached a milestone in the process with his 100th career goal.

The Bearcats then took down Chatham, 10-8, with another milestone accomplishment highlighting the victory. Senior Jacob Visalli scored his 100th goal, tallying four as SVC moved to 14-2 overall and 6-1 in the PAC.

Billet received PAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while senior Brody McMahon was the conference’s top defensive player for the week.

Women’s lacrosse

Seton Hill: It was a three-peat for the Griffins, who downed IUP, 14-6, for their third straight PSAC West title. Sophomore Carleigh Sutfin had four goals, while redshirt sophomore Skylar Orlowski had three goals and an assist, and grad goalkeeper Kyleigh Hessian made a career-high 12 saves. Seton Hill (14-3, 12-0) earns an automatic bye into the PSAC semifinals, set for Friday in West Chester.

Hessian was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Men’s tennis

Saint Vincent: The Bearcats reached the PAC semifinals but dropped a 5-0 decision to Grove City. SVC finished the season with a 10-7 record.

Women’s lacrosse

Waynesburg: Senior Eve O’Sullivan (Latrobe) was second on the team in points through 15 games, with 33 on 27 goals and six assists. She was leading the Yellow Jackets with 61 shots.
