Seton Hill senior Derek Orndorff made some magic in right-center field last week, and the nation got to catch a glimpse of it.

Orndorff made a spectacular running catch in the top of the second inning in the Griffins’ game last Friday against IUP. The play made No. 4 on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays on Friday night.

Orndorff fully extended to make the diving play, then recovered to make a quick relay throw to the infield to nearly double up the Crimson Hawks.

Orndorff did more than take away a gap shot to dampen IUP’s afternoon. He hit two home runs in the 12-0 win.

Seton Hill stayed unbeaten and later moved to 12-0 for the season (4-0 PSAC).

A Connellsville graduate, Orndorff came to Seton Hill from Penn State, where he began his college career. He is hitting .421 with a team-leading seven home runs and 19 RBIs.

Grad student Tommy Pellis (Greensburg Central Catholic) is hitting .514 (18 for 35) with four homers, 20 runs and 15 RBIs. Sophomore Jack Oberdorf (Greensburg Salem) has 17 RBIs.

Pellis was named PSAC West Player of the Week. He hit .700 (7 for 10) with a double, triple and home run, drove in six runs and scored eight times in a four-game series against IUP.

Allegheny: Sophomore pitcher Bobby Kusinsky (Penn Trafford) earned his first career win, going 6 1/3 innings and giving up two runs on five hits while striking out as the Gators defeated Penn State Behrend, 8-5.

Bucknell: Freshman Anthony Sherwin (Penn-Trafford) went 2 for 3 with a career-high five RBIs for the Bison in an 11-1 win over Navy. Sherwin doubled and hit a three-run homer. He also scored three runs.

Pitt-Greensburg: UPG snapped a nine-game losing streak as sophomore Randy Hubbard went 3 for 4 with a home run as the Bobcats took care of Hiram, 5-3.

Senior Jacob Davey and senior Jordan Cavanaugh each had two hits for UPG (1-11).

Softball

Alderson-Broaddus: Junior Meadow Uncapher (Mt. Pleasant) is 1-0 with a 2.63 ERA in four appearances this season for the Battlers. She earned a complete-game win over Tiffin, 2-1, as she allowed four hits and struck out four.

Unchapher also is hitting .292 and has a home run.

Carlow: Sophomore Morgan Nedley (Penn-Trafford) is hitting .318 through nine games for the Celtics. An outfielder and shortstop, she had two doubles and three RBIs. She went 3 for 5 with a double in a 12-7 win over Salem.

Morehead State: Sophomore pitcher Carolyn Alincic (Mt. Pleasant) is 2-4 so far this season with 25 strikeouts and 33 walks for the Eagles.

Notre Dame: Senior Morgan Ryan pitched five strong innings, allowing three hits and striking out three to earn her first win of the season as the Irish shut out N.C. State, 8-0. She is 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA in 20 2/3 innings.

Football

Delaware: Freshman Fintan Brose (Hempfield) has appeared in two games and has a pair of tackles for the Blue Hens (3-0).
