Westmoreland campus clippings: Penn-Trafford grad Hilty delivers winning goal for Allegheny
Senior Ryan Hilty (Penn-Trafford) scored the winning goal in the 76th minute as the Allegheny men’s soccer team edged past Marietta, 3-2. It was the first score of his career.
Cal (Pa.): Sophomore midfielder Zach Vanek (Hempfield) scored his second goal of the season, on a penalty kick, in a 4-1 loss to Ohio Dominican.
Pitt-Greensburg: The Bobcats (4-0-1) stretched their winning streak to four with a 3-2 win over Wilson as senior Javin Melvin, junior Bryce Weber, and sophomore Vinny Treonze scored.

Football
Saint Vincent: Grad student Cam Norris was named the PAC Defensive Player of the Week. Norris helped the Bearcats to a 34-14 win over Bluffton as he recorded five tackles — four for loss — and two sacks, one of which caused a fumble. SVC held Bluffton to 174 yards and seven first downs.
Washington & Jefferson: Justin Huss (Derry), a sophomore running back, was tabbed PAC Special Teams Player of the Week. He scored his first collegiate touchdown in a 64-12 win over Thiel on a 74-yard kickoff return.

Men’s golf
Bowling Green: In his first tournament at his new school, redshirt freshman Brady Pevarnik (Latrobe) tied for 48th at the South Dakota Island Resort Intercollegiate at 16-over-par (79-76-77).
Grove City: Freshman Luke Kimmich (Franklin Regional) shot 81 and tied for 19th at the Grove City Fall Invitational. Kimmich also plays on the school’s soccer team and has played in four games. His brother, junior defender Matt Kimmich (Franklin Regional), has made four starts for the soccer team.
Fairmont State: Freshman Alex Turowski (Penn-Trafford) tied for 14th at the Cal U Vulcan Invitational at Cedarbrook Golf Course near Belle Vernon at even-par 216, posting rounds of 71, 70 and 75.
Notre Dame: Junior Palmer Jackson (Franklin Regional) posted his second straight top-five finish as he tied for fourth at the Minnesota Gopher Invitational with a 6-under 207 at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minn. Jackson’s rounds improved a shot each round: 70, 69, 68.
Notre Dame won a share of the team title (with Kansas) at 14-under.
In the previous tournament, Jackson tied for fourth (68, 68, 69) at the Marquette Invitational at Erin Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wis., carding an 11-under 205 for the Fighting Irish.
Westminster: Junior Sam Napper (Mt. Pleasant) shot 76, the second-best score for the Titans, as the team finished second at the Grove City Invitational.
West Virginia: Fifth-year senior Mark Goetz (Greensburg/The Kiski School) finished at even-par 213 (70, 79, 74) to tie for 18th at the Minnesota Gopher Invitational.

Washington & Jefferson: Freshman Angelika Dewicki (Greensburg Central Catholic) had a strong collegiate debut, carding an 89 for a fifth-place finish at the Grove City College Invitational.

Grove City: Sophomore Joe Whipkey (Penn-Trafford) placed 26th in a time of 32 minutes, 22.24 seconds at the PAC Preview meet.

Point Park: Sophomore Allison Plassio (Norwin) ran a time of 25:40 to finish 22nd at the Bethany Invitational, where the Pioneers finished as the runner-up.
Waynesburg: Sophomore Joula Anderson (Greensburg Salem) finished 14th in a time of 28:07.92 at the PAC Preview.

Women’s soccer
Pitt-Greensburg: Junior forward Ashley Lucas and sophomore defender Nylah Pannebaker picked up weekly accolades from the AMCC. Lucas was named offensive player of the week, and Pannebaker was the top defensive player.
Lucas had four goals, two in each game, and had nine points as UPG defeated Saint Vincent and Muskingum.
Pannebaker played a key role in for a defense that allowed one goal in the two games.
Saint Vincent: Sophomore Tanisha Grewal was named the PAC Offensive Player of the Week. She scored five goals over a three-game stretch, and her six goals lead the conference.
Seton Hill: Junior goalkeeper Grace Kenyon was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week. She posted her second straight shutout, making seven saves in a 1-0 win over Gannon.

Men’s tennis
Saint Vincent: The Bearcats defeated defending AMCC champion Mt. Aloysius, 5-2, to move to 4-0 for the season. Juniors Evan Ray and Joey Bujdos were winners at No. 2 doubles, and freshman Jack Citrone, sophomore David Lynn, senior Mauricio Sanchez and junior Sam Butler registered singles wins.
Bearcats coach Brian Niemiec, who took over the team in 2018 and also coaches the women’s team, recently picked up his 50th win.
