Westmoreland campus clippings: Franklin Regional grad Spencer Lee opens season with victory
There were doubts about Spencer Lee returning to the wrestling mat this season at Iowa after Lee tore his ACL last year but still competed in — and won his third title at — the NCAA Championships.
But Lee came back, with a usual label attached to his name — No. 1 at 125 pounds — and kept winning.
In his first match since NCAAs, the two-time Hodge Trophy winner won a 17-0 technical fall and an 8-0 decision in a tri-match against Central Michigan and Lehigh as No. 1 Iowa earned a sweep.
Lee, a redshirt senior and Franklin Regional product, upped his winning streak to 37 straight, outscoring his opponents 457-42 during the run.
