Matt Frey finally connected with the lineup at Michigan, then connected for his first home run in Blue and Maize.

Frey, a grad student from Franklin Regional, launched his first homer, a three-run blast in the ninth inning of a wild, 20-13 victory over Florida Atlantic. He was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs in the win.

Frey, who previously played at Davidson, missed all of the 2021 season with an injury.

He was batting .324 with nine RBIs and walked 13 times in 10 starts.

His first hit as a Wolverine came Feb. 19 against Kansas State. He had four hits and three RBIs in a win over Florida Atlantic.

Frey has been playing third base or designated hitter.
