Saint Vincent junior Zach Baum (Derry) capped another stellar conference season in the pool with the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year award.
Baum won the 100-yard butterfly for the third consecutive year, with a time of 48.92 seconds, at the PAC championships at Grove City. The time set pool, PAC open and PAC championship records.
He added wins in the 100 freestyle (45.90 seconds) and the 50 free (20.65).

Women’s swimming
Saint Vincent: Katie Kozy took second place in the 100-yard butterfly in a school-record time of 57.59 seconds at the PAC championships. Bearcats freshman Lauren Connors also set a school mark in the 100 backstroke (58.77), and junior Marion D’Aurora won the 200 freestyle in 1:56.35 and freshman Sara Basala was victorious in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.80.
Connors added a victory in the 200 backstroke (2:07.90), and SVC’s 400-yard freestyle relay of freshman Erica Steele (Greensburg Salem), D’Aurora, Connors and senior Claire Kenna also claimed gold.
Washington & Jefferson: Sophomore Kimber Randolph (Hempfield) finished second in the “B” final of the 100 backstroke in 1:06.05 at the PAC Championships.

Grove City: Junior Jacob Ross (Franklin Regional) finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 20 feet, 1/2 inch at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-February Meet.

Penn State: Senior Maddie Holmberg (Hempfield) took eighth place in the long jump with a leap of 20-3 1/2 at the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson. She added a second season-best mark in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.60 seconds.

Ohio: Redshirt sophomore pitcher Jack Liberatore (Greensburg Central Catholic) pitched five innings, allowing five hits and one run in a 6-4 victory over North Alabama. He struck out three and walked two.
Seton Hill: Junior Derek Orndorff and redshirt juniors Tyler Zaluski and Parker Denny drove in two runs, and sophomore Isaiah DiAndreth and junior Jordan Fiedor (Hempfield) had two hits apiece as the Griffins defeated Coker, 10-1, in Hartsville, S.C. Junior George Coyle picked up the pitching win, striking out four in five innings.
Junior pitcher Jared Kollar (Latrobe) threw six scoreless innings and struck out 10 in a 7-2 win over Coker. In that game, senior Tommy Pellis went 3 for 5 with two RBIs, Tanner Froelich added three hits and Zaluski homered.
In the third game of a series sweep, Pellis went 4 for 4 with three RBIs, including a triple and home run, and redshirt junior Adam Bankovich finished 3 for 3 with two doubles and a homer, DiAndreth had three hits and Orndorff and Froelich homered.

Softball
Cal (Pa.): Sophomore Christiana Czegan (Mt. Pleasant) went 1 for 3 with a run, freshman Makayla Munchinski (Latrobe) had a hit and junior Alexa Pastor (Hempfield) also scored, but the Vulcans lost to Fort Lewis, 8-4.
Munchinski went 2 for 4, and Pastor a two-run hit in a 5-3 win over Western New Mexico.
Hartford: Freshman first baseman Emma Armstrong (Penn-Trafford) was named the America East Rookie of the Week after a strong start to the season. She hit .333 with a double, three runs and three RBIs across the first four games.
Marist: Freshman Kiley Myers (Latrobe) tossed a four-hitter in a 7-0 victory over Green Bay. Teammate Claire Oberdorf (Greensburg Salem), a redshirt senior, had a hit and an RBI in the victory.
Morehead State: Sophomore Adeline Nicholson (Southmoreland), a Slippery Rock transfer, went 3 for 3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored in a 5-0 win over North Carolina A&T. She also had two hits and two RBIs in a 10-5 loss to Charlotte.
Penn State: Sophomore pitcher Bailey Parshall (Belle Vernon) struck out a season-high 13, her fourth career game with 10 or more strikeouts, as Penn State (4-4) defeated Iowa, 3-1.
Robert Morris: Sophomore Dana Vatakis (Monessen) was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week. She had a 1.15 ERA and 16 strikeouts across three games (23 1/3 innings).
Also, senior outfielder Briana Bunner (Southmoreland) hit a grand slam in a 12-4 loss to Gardner Webb.
Seton Hill: Junior Jenna Osikowicz (Hempfield) was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week after she led the Griffins at the SnowBird Freeze Out Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She went 9 for 18 with three doubles, a home run and two RBIs. She went 4 for 4 with two doubles against Lock Haven.
Senior teammate Christiana Skrabak (Norwin) went 3 for 3 with five RBIs to help power the Griffins to their first win of the season, 9-1 over Goldey-Beacom in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Penn State Behrend: Freshman Mason Harbaugh (Hempfield) was a winner at No. 3 doubles in a 5-4 loss to Baldwin-Wallace in the spring season opener.
