Every Monday, the Tribune-Review will highlight 10 top area college performances from the weekend:

1. Hines breaks TD record as Duquesne wins 3rd straight

A.J. Hines ran for 113 yards and his 42nd career touchdown — eclipsing Pedro Bowman’s 35-year-old school record — to lead the Dukes over Wagner, 28-24, on Saturday in the Northeast Conference.

Duquesne (5-2, 3-0) trailed 14-0 in the second quarter before scoring twice in the final 1 minute, 55 seconds.

Daniel Parr hit Davie Henderson on a 16-yard touchdown, and the Dukes’ Jake Dixon (Bethel Park) forced a fumble that was recovered by Connor Barrett (Chartiers Valley) on the ensuing kickoff. Hines then scored on a 1-yard run on the final play of the half.

Penn State transfer Mark Allen scored two second-half touchdowns, one on a 2-yard run and the other on a 65-yard punt return.

Wagner dropped to 1-7, 1-2.

2. Westminster football snaps W&J’s 36-game home winning streak

Keano Grice ran for a career-high 189 yards to go with three touchdowns, including one that covered 71 yards, leading the Titans to a 28-21 Presidents’ Athletic Conference victory Saturday.

Grice also scored the tiebreaking touchdown on a 42-yard run with 5:52 left in the fourth quarter for Westminster (6-2, 5-2), which is tied for second in the conference with Carnegie Mellon. Case Western Reserve (7-0, 6-0) is in first.

Aaron Pierce had a 100-yard interception return — his third pick-6 of the season — to make it 21-0 at halftime.

But the Presidents (5-3, 4-3) rallied with three straight touchdown passes by Jacob Adams, who finished 34 of 57 for a school-record 499 yards. He also threw three interceptions.

W&J’s Payton Skalos (Seneca Valley) set career bests with 16 catches for 220 yards along with a touchdown.

3. Pitt men’s soccer storms back to beat Duke

Alexander Dexter capped a comeback from a three-goal deficit by scoring in the 86th minute as the Panthers won 4-3 in the ACC on Friday.

It was Pitt’s first victory over Duke in program history.

Edward Kizza started the rally with a goal in the 41st minute for Pitt (8-5-2, 4-2-1).

Veljko Petkovic scored in the 55th minute, and Jackson Walti put in a shot from close to midfield in the 63rd minute for the equalizer.

Duke fell to 6-7-2, 2-4-1.

4. Pitt-Greensburg women clinch 1st AMCC title

Lauren Yoder made a season-best 13 saves as the Bobcats beat Penn State Behrend, 2-0, on Saturday. Pitt-Greensburg (17-0, 9-0) earned the top seed and hosting rights for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament.

Tiffany Michalek scored her 17th goal of the season, and Alexis Barlamas also scored.

Penn State Behrend dropped to 8-6-2, 7-1-1.

5. Surging RMU football wins again

Jacob Thomas returned a fumble 3 yards for the go-ahead touchdown as the Colonials rallied past Bryant, 24-20, in an NEC game Saturday.

Garrett Houser added a 72-yard touchdown catch from George Martin in the fourth quarter for Robert Morris (4-4), which improved to 3-0 in the NEC for the first time since 2010.

The Colonials came back from a 13-point hole, making their largest rally since 2010.

Bryant slipped to 2-7, 1-3.

6. No. 9 Slippery Rock rolls to 8-0 start

Roland Rivers III threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns, propelling The Rock past Clarion, 41-6, in a PSAC game Saturday.

Rivers became the fourth QB in school history to eclipse 5,000 career passing yards (5,254), and his 55 career TD passes are five away from the school record of 60. Rivers also upped his season total to 28 TD passes, tied for his career high and five away from the single-season school record.

Jermaine Wynn Jr. (Woodland Hills) caught eight passes for 153 yards and a touchdown for The Rock (5-0 PSAC West).

Clarion fell to 3-5, 1-4.

7. No. 3 Pitt volleyball stays unbeaten in ACC

Kayla Lund’s 11 kills helped the Panthers sweep host Louisville, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20, on Sunday in a matchup of the top teams in the conference.

Chinaza Ndee, Layne Van Buskirk and Stephanie Williams recorded 10 kills apiece for the Panthers (21-1, 10-0), who moved to No. 2 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll Monday, the highest ranking in school history.

The Cardinals slipped to 15-5, 8-2.

8. No. 19 IUP football shuts out Gannon

Quinton Maxwell threw three first-half touchdown passes, and the Crimson Hawks defense limited Golden Knights QB Jimmy Keefe into a 7-for-27 passing performance in a 35-0 victory Saturday.

Duane Brown (Apollo-Ridge) had seven receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown for IUP (7-1, 4-1). He has caught a TD in eight straight games, the longest streak in Division II.

Damon Lloyd returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown.

Gannon dropped to 2-6, 1-4.

9. No. 12 PSU men’s hockey clips Robert Morris

Senior captain Brandon Biro scored the winner with 13 minutes, 12 seconds left, lifting the Nittany Lions to a 2-1 nonconference victory Friday. It was the 100th career point for Biro.

10. W&J women’s tennis earns 1st PAC title, NCAA berth

Caitlin Shellhamer’s 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Grove City’s Logan Fuss at fifth singles clinched the Presidents’ 5-3 victory in the conference championships Saturday at Greensburg Racquet Club.

Shellhamer also won at third doubles, teaming with Megan Berard. Tournament MVP Maya Krishnasamy, Isabella Goldman (Upper St. Clair) and Jade Annaldo were the other singles winners for Washington & Jefferson (11-5), which was the second seed. The Presidents earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III championships from May 8-10.
