Waynesburg's Popeck makes 11 3-pointers
Even Stephen Curry might raise an eyebrow at this stat line.
Waynesburg’s Matt Popeck was feeling it Thursday night when the Yellow Jackets hosted Stevenson.
He felt like he couldn’t miss, and barely did.
The junior guard and Washington graduate made a school-record 11 3-pointers on 13 attempts, a ridiculous 84.6% from behind the arc, on the way to a career-high 41 points.
Waynesburg won, 83-69, for its fifth win in six games and moved to 7-3.
Popeck was 13 of 20 from the field as the Yellow Jackets connected on 17 of 26 3s and made 49% of their shots for the game.
He made 7 of 11 3s across the final 20 minutes as Waynesburg’s lead grew.
Popeck, who came back from a season-ending knee injury he sustained in the second game of the year, also went 4 for 4 from the foul line and played 32 minutes.
For the season, Popeck has made 36 of 83 3s and is averaging 22.6 points.
