The Washington Wild Things scored in five consecutive innings, including a homer by shortstop Ethan Wilder, to defeat the Quebec Capitales, 5-2, in Game 1 of the best-of-five Frontier League Championship series Tuesday night.

Game 2 is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Wednesday in Washington.

Kobe Foster started and went six innings, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts. Relievers Christian James, Alex Carillo and Gyeongju Kim each pitched a scoreless inning without allowing a hit.

In the second inning, Washington’s Jalen Miller singled, stole second and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Wilder to make it 1-1.

In the third, Wagner Lagrange hit a two-out RBI single to put the Wild Things in front for good.

Wilder homered in the fourth, Tyreque Reed hit a sac fly in the fifth and Ricardo Sanchez delivered an RBI signle in the sixth.

Tommy Caufield singled, doubled, tripled and scored twice for the Wild Things.

Quebec, which is looking to three-peat, scored its runs on solo homers by Kyle Crowl and Justin Gideon.
