Vince Williams (98) of the Pittsburgh Steelers sacks quarterback Ryan Tannehill of the Tennessee Titans during the first half of a preseason game at Nissan Stadium on August 25, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tight end Vance McDonald missed a third consecutive day of practice Saturday with a shoulder injury, but Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is leaving the proverbial light on for the veteran tight end.

McDonald is listed as doubtful on the injury report the Steelers unveiled after their final practice in advance of their game Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals at Heinz Field.

When asked about his status following practice, McDonald twice deferred to the injury report.

“Obviously, there’s always a chance to play,” he said.

Asked if he remains hopeful, McDonald responded, “Of course, I’m hopeful. I never lose hope.”

Linebackers Vince Williams (hamstring) and Anthony Chickillo (foot) also missed a third day of practice this week, but each player was ruled out by Tomlin. Fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee) was ruled out by Tomlin on Wednesday. All three players were inactive last week against San Francisco.

Linebacker Jayrone Elliott is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. Elliott returned to full participation Saturday after being limited the previous two days.

Cornerback Joe Haden (shoulder) practiced in full for a second day in a row. Offensive linemen Ramon Foster and Maurkice Pouncey and linebacker Mark Barron each practiced Saturday after being rested for a day earlier in the week.

For the Bengals, they will be without defensive end Kerry Wynn (concussion), wide receiver A.J. Green (ankle), defensive tackle Ryan Glasgow (thigh) and offensive lineman Cordy Glenn (concussion). Defensive end Carl Lawson (hamstring) is doubtful.
