Iowa’s Spencer Lee, a Franklin Regional graduate, is a top contender to make the U.S. Olympic team at 57 kilograms.

USA Wrestling has postponed the Olympic trials that were scheduled for Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center on April 4-5 due to coronavirus concerns.

In a statement, the governing body said it is working with local officials and health experts in hopes of rescheduling the event at the same venue.

The Olympics are scheduled to begin July 24 in Tokyo, and the International Olympic Committee has repeatedly shot down suggestions that a delay might be necessary.

Franklin Regional graduate Spencer Lee, a junior at Iowa, won the 57-kilogram title at the U.S. Senior National Championships in December and is a leading contender to represent the U.S. in Tokyo.
