Urban-Bennett Memorial Classic highlights Robert Morris' nonconference schedule
Robert Morris men’s basketball will embark on its 49th season at the Division I level in Morgantown to take on West Virginia on Nov. 4, marking its first clash with the Mountaineers since 2010.
It will be the first of 11 nonconference games for the Colonials.
On Nov. 10, just less than a week later, Robert Morris will take on Pittsburgh rival Chatham in the home opener.
Robert Morris also will host the second annual Urban-Bennett Memorial Classic, which will be a home multi-team event that P3R will sponsor Nov. 14, 15 and 17. Stonehill, Lindenwood and New Orleans will join the Colonials at the UPMC Events Center.
Delaware, Cornell and Ohio are the remaining road opponents, while Canisius, Towson and Saint Francis complete the home fixtures. The 93rd all-time contest between the Colonials and the Red Flash will take place Dec. 21.
The Horizon League will release the conference fixtures for Robert Morris at a future time.
“We are excited about the schedule we have created. It may be the first time in my head coaching career we have more nonconference home games than road games,” coach Andy Toole said. “We want to be able to allow our student-athletes to test themselves against teams that will prepare us for Horizon League play. This schedule will allow us to understand who we are as a team and give us the chance to create the connectivity needed to chase a Horizon League championship.”
