Tim Benz, Mark Madden tackle Penguins' recent losses, Pitt violations, Steelers' needs, Pirates spring training
Last Monday, it was tough to come up with a negative thing to say about the Pittsburgh Penguins.
This Monday, it’s tough to find something good.
The Pens have lost three games in a row. They’ve given up 14 goals in the defeats, and the Philadelphia Flyers are closing in on second place in the Metro Division.
Mark Madden joins us for this week’s “Madden Monday.” We talk about what’s going wrong with the Penguins and how concerned fans should be.
Will a trade help? The deadline is Monday. Mark and I try to determine what Jim Rutherford will do.
We also discuss those NCAA violations against Pitt. Is this a case of the NCAA overstepping its bounds? Or are the Panthers wrong for what they did?
The Steelers have a lot on their offseason to-do list. Where should they start?
The NFL collective bargaining agreement is a hot debate. Mark and I look into where the players can make some gains if the NFL pushes a 17-game schedule down their throats. Also, we investigate the positives and negatives of an expanded playoff format.
And Grapefruit League action is underway. We’ll be seeing regular season Pirates games in about a month.
I know. Try to contain your enthusiasm.
