There’s a lot of ground to cover in this week’s “Madden Monday.”

Mark Madden of 105.9 the X joins me to talk Penguins hockey, football and the start of another Major League Baseball season.

We begin with the Penguins and their wins Friday and Sunday. They beat up on the mediocre Montreal Canadiens and the awful Detroit Red Wings, winning by a combined score of 9-2.

The goaltending has been very good. Jason Zucker appears to have long-term potential as a fit with Sidney Crosby, and Patric Hornqvist may have sipped from the fountain of youth. We talk about all those topics and the prospect of another trade.

The Myles Garrett-Mason Rudolph controversy continues to rage. Mark and I both think it is wise for Rudolph to pursue a defamation claim against Garrett. We tell you why.

The XFL product appeared to dip between Week 1 and Week 2. We give our opinions about whether it is sustainable.

The Astros’ cheating scandal remains a daily headline. What needs to happen for baseball to get away from it? Or can that happen at all?

Then there is the NFL CBA. It looks like the franchise tag is staying. Mark tells us why we shouldn’t be surprised.
