Tiger Woods not moving well in rough first round at British Open

Tiger Woods completed his worst-ever first round of the British Open on Thursday.

This year’s Masters winner made six bogeys and a double bogey in carding 7-over 78, 12 shots behind leader fellow American J.B. Holmes at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

His highest first-round score at golf’s oldest major before this year was 76 in 2015 at St. Andrews.

“I’m not moving as well as I’d like,” Woods told the Golf Channel. “Father Time and some procedures I’ve had over time, it’s just the wait’s going to be here from here on out.”

The 15-time major champion said his warmup wasn’t very good and that he was “just trying to piece together a swing that will get me around a golf course.”
