T.J. Watt was a surprise addition to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ injury report Wednesday. The star outside linebacker sat out practice because of a toe injury, per the status report.

Watt played what could be considered a regular workload during the Steelers’ loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. He was not mentioned as having an ailment by coach Mike Tomlin either after that game nor during his Tuesday news conference. Watt regularly takes so-called “veterans days off” during the regular season.

Queen sits out, too

Inside linebacker Patrick Queen did not practice Wednesday because of a glute injury suffered against the Bills. Tomlin on Tuesday indicated that would be the case but did not make it sound as if Queen might miss Sunday’s upcoming AFC North showdown against the Baltimore Ravens.

The news was better for cornerback James Pierre, who entered NFL concussion protocol during Sunday’s game. He was listed as a limited participant Wednesday.

Skowronek, Anderson limited

Depth receiver Ben Skowronek (shoulder) and backup offensive tackle Calvin Anderson (knee) each were listed as limited Wednesday.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not practice as he rests his left wrist fracture.

Rookie cornerback Donte Kent (ankle) returned to practice while on injured reserve — but indications are he suffered a new injury (knee).

The Steelers had already ruled rookie defensive tackle Derrick Harmon out of Sunday’s game because of a knee injury.
