Stormy Daniels evokes Ben Roethlisberger during Trump trial
Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was mentioned Tuesday during Stormy Daniels’ testimony in former President Donald Trump’s election interference trial.
Daniels testified under oath about the sexual encounter she says she had with Trump in 2006 and the alleged $130,000 deal to keep it a secret, made just days before the 2016 election.
NBC News reports that in court, Trump’s bodyguard reached out to Daniels the day after their alleged encounter to meet him at a Nevada hotel bar.
Daniels testified that when she arrived, Trump was with Roethlisberger.
TribLive news partner WTAE described it:
“She (Daniels) went on to say Trump was next to Roethlisberger, whom he referred to as “Big Ben.” Daniels testified she tried on his Super Bowl ring during this interaction.”
NBC Sports added that Trump described her as “his little friend Stormy,” according to Daniels’ testimony.
Despite the encounter with Roethlisberger occurring the day after Daniels’ alleged sex with Trump, she did not let Big Ben in on her big secret, however.
NBC added this wasn’t Daniels’ only encounter with Roethlisberger that involved Trump.
Daniels wrote in her 2018 book “Full Disclosure” that on same evening, Trump “asked Roethlisberger to walk Daniels to her hotel room” at the Lake Tahoe resort where the celebrity golf tournament was being held. It was then that Roethlisberger requested a “good night kiss,” according to the book, which adds that Roethlisberger remained outside Daniels’ room, knocking on the door for several minutes before leaving.
Roethlisberger declined to comment on Daniels’ description of the evening in her book.
