Steelers vs. Saints: What they're saying in New Orleans after loss
Not so easy in the Big Easy.
The New Orleans Saints rolled into Pittsburgh with quarterback Andy Dalton and rolled up a mere 10 points. They were shutout in the second half.
We thought things were rough in Pittsburgh.
The Saints reside in a division with a .500 team in first place.
Here are some reactions from New Orleans on the 20-10 loss:
The headline on Jeff Duncan’s story from NOLA.com told the tale: The Saints are getting worse and still might not have hit rock bottom.
“The division’s mediocrity has masked the Saints’ problems and distracted everyone from realizing just how bad they are and how poorly they have played this season,” he wrote. “The NFC’s widespread incompetence has kindled false hope and prevented the Saints from taking a realistic look at themselves and understanding exactly where they are as a football team.”
Here’s another rough headline on MSN: NFL world calling for head coach to be fired tonight. The call was to fire Saints coach Dennis Allen. He still remains with the team as of this morning.
“Dennis Allen got out coached by Matt Canada who got fired by Ed Orgeron. That should tell you something,” one fan added on social media.
Harsh.
“If Andy Dalton was supposed to save the season, he hasn’t and it’s hard to see how he will,” was one takeaway from the game from SaintsWire.
“Dalton has won just one game since then against a struggling Las Vegas Raiders team that may have made the Saints offensive success nothing more than a mirage. For the second week in a row, it’s hard to find any arguments to make in favor of Dalton being the starter moving forward.”
The highlight of the game for Saints fans was a punt: A 58-yard punt that went out of bounds at the Pittsburgh Steelers 2-yard line, according to Canal Street Chronicles.
“Dalton threw these two interceptions in the fourth quarter, on drives that the Saints desperately needed points on. The Saints offense has struggled the last two games with Dalton under center, and now that it seems Jameis Winston may be healthy again, the Saints may look to make a change at QB.”
Geaux Steelers.
