The Pittsburgh Steelers officially have nothing left from their 2018 free agent class.

Linebacker Jon Bostic was given his release Saturday afternoon shortly after the NFL Draft concluded. Bostic was the last of the three free agents signed in the 2018 offseason that remained on the Steelers roster. Safety Morgan Burnett was released earlier in the offseason, and special teams player Nat Berhe wasn’t resigned after his one-year contract expired.

Signed to fill Ryan Shazier’s spot at inside linebacker last season, Bostic started 14 games but his playing time dwindled down the stretch as he lacked the speed required of NFL linebackers. He had 73 tackles, 2.5 sacks and three passes defensed.

The Steelers signed Mark Barron in free agency and added inside linebacker Devin Bush with their first-round draft pick Thursday night.

By releasing Bostic, the Steelers will shave $1.8 million off their salary cap.
