The NFL logo NFL is on the goal post at Heinz Field before an NFL football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills, Dec. 15, 2019, in Pittsburgh.

Two preseason home games have been wiped from the books, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are taking steps in case fans are allowed to attend games at Heinz Field during the regular season.

The organization sent an email Wednesday to season ticket holders who did not already put their accounts on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic. The email outlined precautions the franchise is taking this year in the event fans are permitted to attend the eight regular-season home games.

Among the “initial” steps the Steelers detailed in the email are:

• Touchless restroom facilities.

• Contactless payment options at all concession stands.

• Mobile ticketing procedures that make it easier to transfer tickets and receive information on health and safety measures being taken at the stadium.

• Installation of sanitizing stations.

The four-game preseason schedule was canceled Tuesday in an agreement reached between the NFL and its players association. Tickets will be refunded to fans for the scheduled preseason games against Tampa Bay and New Orleans.

The first regular-season game at Heinz Field is scheduled for Sept. 20 against the Denver Broncos.
