After agreeing to terms with a punter in free agency, the Pittsburgh Steelers are keeping another of their specialists around for the foreseeable future.

Long snapper Christian Kuntz has agreed to a multi-year contract, a league source told TribLive on Wednesday.

Kuntz entered the offseason as a restricted free agent. The Steelers had until 4 p.m. Wednesday to tender him a contract offer or allow him to reach unrestricted free agency. That step was avoided when the Steelers agreed with the three-year veteran on a new contract.

The Chartiers Valley and Duquesne alum made the 53-man roster in 2021 when he unseated veteran Kameron Canaday in a training camp competition. Kuntz previously tried to make the roster as a linebacker, the position he played at Duquesne.

On Monday, the first day of the NFL’s legal tampering period, the Steelers agreed with punter Cameron Johnston on a three-year, $9 million deal.
