Steelers add DE Isaiah Buggs to list of inactives for Chargers game
CARSON, Calif. – It didn’t take much thought for the Steelers to compile their list of inactive players for their game at the Los Angeles Chargers, considering that six players were ruled out before the team departed Pittsburgh on Saturday morning.
Ruled out Friday were quarterback Mason Rudolph (concussion), wide receiver James Washington (shoulder), inside linebacker Mark Barron (hamstring), fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee) and running back Jaylen Samuels (knee). On Saturday, cornerback Steve Nelson (groin) joined them after he was downgraded from questionable to out.
Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs also was made inactive.
Because of the injuries, veteran wide receiver Donte Moncrief will play after being a healthy scratch for two of the previous three games. Outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo, recovered from a foot injury after missing three games, also is active.
Rookie running back Benny Snell Jr. will be the primary backup to starter James Conner, and Trey Edmunds was promoted from the practice to provide depth at the position and on special teams.
Quarterback Paxton Lynch, who also was promoted from the practice squad Friday, will back up Devlin Hodges.
For the Chargers, defensive end Melvin Ingram, quarterback Easton Stick, defensive tackle Cortez Broughton, wide receiver Andre Patton, running back Justin Jackson and safety Nasir Adderley are inactive.
