Editor’s note: Leading up to a unique Pittsburgh Steelers training camp staged at Heinz Field this year, the Tribune-Review will be running through the team’s 90-man roster, assessing each player’s outlook for the 2020 season. The breakdown will go through the roster, in mostly alphabetical order, two per day, between June 9 and July 23, a day that was originally planned to be reporting day for players to camp. C J.C. HASSENAUER
Experience: 2nd season
Contract status: $610,000 cap hit for 2020, will be an exclusive rights free agent in 2021
2020 outlook: Hassenauer spent the final game of last season on the active roster, but he did not play against Baltimore. He was promoted from the practice squad, where he spent the previous five weeks, and he moved up the depth chart when Patrick Morris was claimed off waivers by the Denver Broncos. Hassenauer originally signed with the Steelers out of the Alliance of American Football and spent the 2019 training camp with them.
Bottom line: The Steelers lost two interior offensive linemen, but they signed veteran Stefen Wisniewski to provide support at all three inside positions, and they drafted guard Kevin Dotson in the fourth round. This will make it difficult for Hassenauer to earn a roster spot, since center is his primary position.

DT CAMERON HEYWARD
Experience: 10th season
Contract status: $13,251,250 cap hit for 2020, will be an unrestricted free agent in 2021
2020 outlook: The Steelers would like to sign Heyward, who is in the final year of a six-year, $59.2 million deal, to an extension before the season. Talks were put on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic but should resume once the league returns to business.
Bottom line: Heyward led all NFL defensive linemen with 83 tackles last season and finished third on the Steelers with nine sacks and second with 22 quarterback hits. He was named first-team All-Pro for the second time and earned a third consecutive invitation to the Pro Bowl. Along with Stephon Tuitt, the Steelers have two of the most disruptive — and highly paid — defensive linemen in the NFL. Expect Heyward’s salary to rise if the Steelers manage to extend his contract this summer.
