Seton Hill baseball coach Marc Marizzaldi was honored by the American Baseball Coaches Association as the ABCA/ATEC NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year.

Marizzaldi led the Griffins, who finished 39-8, to their most successful season. They were Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division champions, PSAC runners-up and earned their second trip to the Division II World Series by winning the Atlantic Regional.

It is the third time in his career that Marizzaldi was honored by the ABCA as Regional Coach of the Year. He was also named the Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year following the 2014 season. Marizzaldi also picked up the NAIA Region IX Coach of the Year Award from the ABCA in 2006. Seton Hill was 23-4 in PSAC West play. The team won their first PSAC Western Division crown since 2014.

The Griffins also won their second Atlantic Regional title and advanced to their second NCAA Division II Baseball Championships.

He was also named the NCBWA Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year in addition to being named the PSAC West Coach of the Year. Earlier this season, Coach Marizzaldi won his 600th game with a Griffins sweep at UPJ. The ABCA/ATEC Coaches of the Year are selected in nine different divisions across the baseball landscape. Coaches of the Year are selected by members of the ABCA All America and Coach of the Year Committees.

The ABCA/ATEC National and Regional Coaches of the Year will be honored Jan. 7 in the main hall prior to the start of the 78th annual ABCA Convention, which will be held Jan. 6-9, 2022 in Chicago, Ill.
