Saint Vincent's Shemar Bennett makes national team of the week
One game can carry a lot of clout in the covid-19 era. Just ask Shemar Bennett.
The senior forward from Saint Vincent was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, an honor roll released weekly during the season that recognizes strong performances at each position.
Saint Vincent has played only one game and it was a win fueled by the post play of Bennett.
Bennett had 19 points and 13 rebounds in the Bearcats’ long-awaited season opener, a 68-66 victory over Geneva in Latrobe. He scored 15 after halftime and shot 9 of 11 from the field.
Bennett, out of Lauderhill, Fla., blocked a shot with seven seconds remaining to prevent the go-ahead basket.
The other selections are Keondre Schumacher of Illinois Wesleyan, Taren Hall of Carroll, Damon McDowell of N.C. Wesleyan, and Travis Jocelyn of The College of New Jersey.
