Robert Morris defensive back Rob Carter Jr. might have made the best play of the college football season, just as the season got under way.
Carter’s acrobatic acrobatic, one-handed interception just before halftime Saturday night in a 36-14 loss at Utah State was No. 1 on SportsCenter’s Top Plays after a highlight-filled day of college football action on the first full weekend of games. The Colonials led 14-10 at the time.

The Colonials (0-1) were led by Anthony Chiccitt (Bethel Park), who completed 22 of 30 passes for 171 yards and one touchdown. Tyvon Edmonds Jr. ran for 86 yards, and Cole Mitchell had four catches for 60 yards. On defense, Jamar Shegog (Seton LaSalle) made 11 tackles, and Tyris Harvey had two interceptions.
The Colonials will play Edinboro in their home opener at 6 p.m. Saturday at Joe Walton Stadium.
