Robert Morris University head football coach Bernard Clark and his Colonials will open the 2021 fall season Sept. 4 at Dayton.

After a season that was postponed, moved to the spring and shortened to three games, Robert Morris will enter a 2021 campaign that returns to its normal spot on the calendar in the fall.

The Colonials lost all three games but return 21 starters (11 on defense). Included in the experienced defensive group is senior linebacker Aniello Buzzacco, who was named Tuesday to the 2021 Big South preseason all-conference team.

Buzzacco led the Big South in tackles per game (13) and finished second in the conference with a total of 39, one behind Cody Cline of Charleston Southern. Buzzacco had 15 tackles, including 10 solos, in the spring opener at James Madison. He added 10 at Kennesaw State in Robert Morris’ Big South debut and 14 at Charleston Southern. He has recorded 10 or more tackles in 10 of 12 games dating to 2019.

In the Big South preseason poll, Robert Morris was picked to finish last in the eight-team conference. Monmouth was chosen as the preseason favorite, followed by Kennesaw State, North Carolina A&T, Charleston Southern, Campbell, Gardner-Webb, Hampton and Robert Morris.

RMU opens the season Sept. 4 at Dayton.
