Pine-Richland head coach Jon LeDonne celebrates with Ryan Cory after a Rams touchdown against Imhotep Charter during the PIAA Class 5A state championship game on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at Cumberland Valley High School.

A decade before Jon LeDonne became a head football coach in the WPIAL, he made an impact on the field at Robert Morris University.

The four-year Colonials letterman finished his career as one of the all-time RMU leaders in career tackles with 256.

LeDonne, an Aliquippa native, earned numerous athletic and academic laurels in college.

The current head coach at Pine-Richland will join three other athletic greats in the 32nd class to be inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame, the university announced Wednesday.

LeDonne joins Sal Buscaglia (women’s basketball coach; 2003-16), Latrobe native April Krivoniak (volleyball and track and field; 2013-17) and Bellevue native Debbie Sutterlin (women’s basketball; 1985-89) in this year’s class, which will be inducted Dec. 1 at the UPMC Events Center.

A public recognition will be Dec. 2 during the RMU men’s basketball game against Youngstown State.

In 13 seasons, Buscaglia posted an overall record of 225-178 (.558) and is the all-time leader in victories for Robert Morris basketball. His teams earned four automatic berths in the NCAA Tournament (2007, 2008, 2014, 2016). Buscaglia also led RMU to four NEC regular-season crowns (2007, 2008, 2014, 2015). He also was a three-time NEC Coach of the Year honoree.

Krivoniak appeared in 115 career matches for the volleyball program, including 102 starts. The 11th student-athlete in program history to eclipse 1,000 career digs while also ranking in the top 10 in school history in blocks, Krivoniak was named the 2015 Northeast Conference Tournament MVP after helping lead the Colonials to their first league tournament title and subsequent bid to the NCAA Tournament since 2003. In track and field, she became the program’s indoor record holder in the shot put (46-1.50).

Sutterlin appeared in 112 career basketball games, which stood as the program school record at the conclusion of her career. She scored 1,168 points in four seasons. Sutterlin is a veteran’s committee selection, which honors individuals who have concluded their careers at least 20 years ago.

The RMU Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1991, and the Class of 2023 brings membership to 151 individuals and three teams.

Nominations are solicited and individuals selected by the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame committee. Student-athletes, coaches and administrators are eligible five years after they have concluded their career at RMU.
