Pitt will return to Barclays Center next season for Legends Classic
Pitt started assembling its men’s basketball schedule for the 2022-23 season Friday, announcing plans to return to Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., for the 16th annual Legends Classic Nov. 16-17. Pitt ended its 2021-22 season at Barclays on Tuesday in the ACC Tournament.
Pitt is a familiar Legends participant, after appearing in the 2008, 2013 and 2017 events and winning the championship in ‘2008 and 2013. They will be joined by Arizona State, Michigan and VCU.
The schedule for this year’s tournament will be released at a later date.
VCU (21-8) was scheduled to play Richmond on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Michigan (17-14) lost to Indiana in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Arizona State (14-17) lost to Stanford in the first Pac-12 Tournament.
“We are thrilled to bring the Legends Classic back to Barclays Center,” Gazelle Group president Rick Giles said in a statement. “The pandemic caused a lot of shuffling of events the last two years, but the Legends Classic is back with a field that will bring excitement to Brooklyn.”
