The Pitt men’s basketball team will host Rutgers in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Dec. 3 at Petersen Events Center, the university announced Thursday.
Pitt is 2-3 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, going 1-1 at home. The Panthers lost at No. 14 Iowa, 69-68, last year.
“The Big Ten/ACC Challenge is a terrific early-season event for college basketball,” Pitt coach Jeff Capel said in a statement. “We look forward to hosting Rutgers and playing another quality nonconference opponent in the beginning of our season. This game will be a good test for our team as we continue to build our culture here at Pitt.”
The game will mark the return to the Pete for Rutgers assistant coach Brandin Knight, an All-American point guard for the Panthers whose No. 20 jersey is retired. Knight was an assistant coach under Jamie Dixon from 2007-16.
