Pitt associate athletic director Chris LaSala to speak at Westmoreland Sports Club
The next featured speaker for the Westmoreland Sports Club will be Chris LaSala, the associate athletic director for football administration at Pitt.
LaSala, who will tackle the ever-changing college landscape that now allows athletes to make money and transfer freely with the use of a portal, will talk March 21 at at Ferrante’s Lakeview in Greensburg.
The event is set for 6:30 p.m. with a pre-talk dinner.
“Chris will explain how the transfer portal and NIL have affected college and high school athletes,” said Bob Colbert, president of the Westmoreland Sports Club. “Any parent who has a son or daughter playing sports will benefit from hearing Chris.”
The cost to attend is $27 and the deadline to register is Friday. Reservations can be made by contacting Lorrie Quadro at llquadro@yahoo.com. Quadro can also provide information on joining the non-profit club, which welcomes members and guests to its monthly meetings.
Previous speakers included former Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert, Dr. Joseph Maroon, a renowned neurosurgeon and Steelers doctor, former Pittsburgh Penguins center Tyler Kennedy, and former Major League Baseball manager Ken Macha.
Local high school athletes who won WPIAL wrestling and swimming championships also will be recognized at the upcoming event.
