Pirates trade 3 minor-league pitchers, 2 for international bonus pool money
The Pirates made three trades involving prospects Sunday, two for additional capacity in the 2019-20 international bonus pool and another to complete an earlier deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Pirates sent left-handed pitcher Domingo Robles to St. Louis and right-hander Conner Loeprich to Baltimore, both for international bonus pool money. The 22-year-old Robles was 4-6 with a 4.02 ERA in 18 starts last season at Double-A Altoona. Loeprich, 23, was 5-4 with a 3.94 ERA last year, split between Class A Greensboro and Bradenton.
They also sent right-hander Joel Cesar the Phillies as the player to be named in the Aug. 26 trade for lefty reliever Austin Davis. Cesar, 24, started the 2019 season in Class A advanced Bradenton but finished it in Altoona, where he was 3-4 with a 3.76 ERA in 28 appearances.
