Pirates pitcher Steven Brault leaves the game with trainer Bryan Housand during the fifth inning against the Brewers Friday, July 5, 2019, at PNC Park.

Trevor Williams will be placed on MLB’s paternity list Saturday and won’t make his scheduled start for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Instead, Dario Agarzal will make his third career start after his recall from Triple-A Indianapolis. Agarzal (1-0) has allowed only three earned runs in 10 innings (2.70 ERA) with the Pirates.

Williams may offer more information on his situation via social media this weekend.

Meanwhile, the Pirates lost their fifth starting pitcher to an injury when Steven Brault left the 7-6 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in the fifth inning Friday night with shoulder discomfort.

Brault said he didn’t know if the Pirates’ medical staff is planning on taking an MRI of his shoulder Saturday.

“I had at hard time getting it loose (Friday),” he said. “Came out for that fifth inning, it just wouldn’t loosen up.

“I want to put my team in a good situation to win. That fifth inning, facing (Orlando) Arcia (who walked), I just couldn’t. So, I didn’t want to continue there.

“Kind of convenient, we got the All-Star break coming up. It was going to be a longer breach in between starts, anyway.”

So far this season, Pirates starting pitchers Jordan Lyles (twice), Chris Archer, Jameson Taillon and Williams have spent time on the injured list.
