Pirates sign four more draft choices
The Pittsburgh Pirates have 29 of their 42 draft choices under contract after four, including sixth-round outfielder Will Matthiessen of Stanford, agreed to terms Monday.
Matthiessen, 6-foot-7, 220 pounds, hit .322, with 12 home runs and 52 RBIs in 57 games for Stanford this season.

He also was 6-2 as a pitcher, with a save and a 3.71 ERA.

He will report to the West Virginia Black Bears, the Pirates’ Single-A affiliate in the New York-Penn League.
The Pirates also signed:
• Right-handed pitcher Alex Roth, the 21st-round pick. He was 7-0 with a 2.35 ERA for Western Oregon.
• Catcher Dylan Shockley, the 34th-round pick. He hit .373 this season while driving in 46 runs in 60 games for the University of Rio Grande.
• Right-handed pitcher C.J. Dandeneau, the 37th-round pick. He was 4-2 with a save, 2.52 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 50 innings for the University of Connecticut.
Roth will report to the Bristol Pirates of the Appalachian League while Shockley and Dandeneau initially will play for the GCL Pirates in the Gulf Coast League.
