Pirates set post-All-Star break rotation for series vs. Cubs
Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle is getting away from baseball over the All-Star break this week.
So he made sure to set the starting rotation for his team’s upcoming games Sunday.
Chris Archer, Jordan Lyles and Trevor Williams will start games during an important three-game series at the Chicago Cubs that begins Friday. Joe Musgrove, who started Sunday, will pitch July 15 at St. Louis.
“And I am going to go out on a limb,” Hurdle said, “and say (Dario) Agrazal will pitch the 16th.
“Short limb.”
Agrazal allowed two runs over six innings Saturday in his third major league start. Agrazal was recalled to fill in for Williams, who went to the paternity list. But Agrazal will stay in the majors to fill in for Steven Brault, who went to the injured list because of a shoulder strain suffered Friday.
Hurdle also said reliever Keone Kela will pitch a bullpen session Thursday in Chicago, “and then we will determine the next steps.’ Kela, on the IL since May 8 because of shoulder inflammation, pitched a simulated game Saturday at PNC Park and had no apparent setbacks.
