Pirates reliever David Bednar returns from injured list

Pirates rookie reliever David Bednar was reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday’s game against the Philles at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

The Mars graduate had been out with a right oblique strain since Sept. 8.

Bednar is 3-1 with three saves and a 2.18 ERA in 58 games this season.

Right-handed reliever Kyle Keller was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. Keller most recently pitched Friday night against the Phillies and worked one scoreless inning.

Keller has appeared in 29 games for the Pirates this season and has a 1-1 record and 6.75 ERA.
