Pirates reliever Kyle Crick works out Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at Pirate City in Bradenton.

The Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated reliever Kyle Crick from the injured list and added right-hander Carson Fulmer to the active roster Saturday.

Crick was placed on the 10-day IL with a right lat muscle strain on July 28, a day after he allowed a two-out, game-tying double to Ryan Braun in the ninth inning of a 6-5 11-inning loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at PNC Park.

Fulmer was claimed off waivers from the Detroit Tigers on Aug. 24, four days after being designated for assignment. In seven appearances with Detroit, he allowed eight runs on five hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. A 2015 first-round pick by the Chicago White Sox, Fulmer has pitched in 51 games since 2016.

To make room on the roster, the Pirates optioned right-handed reliever Nick Mears and first baseman Will Craig.
