Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Mitch Keller (23) meets with catcher Jacob Stallings (center) and pitching coach Ray Searage after giving up a grand slam to Cincinnati Reds’ Jose Iglesias in the first inning during the second baseball game of a doubleheader, Monday, May 27, 2019, in Cincinnati.

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled top prospect Mitch Keller and will start the right-hander against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night at SunTrust Park.

It will mark Keller’s second start in the majors. In his debut, Keller allowed six runs in the first inning, including a grand slam, before throwing three scoreless innings in an 8-1 loss at Cincinnati on Memorial Day. Keller was 5-1 with a 3.10 ERA and 1.31 WHIP for Triple-A Indianapolis. He struck out 13 in five scoreless innings against Toledo in his last start.

To make room on the 25-man roster, the Pirates optioned right-hander Montana DuRapau to Triple-A Indianapolis.
