As they prepare for their longest road trip of the season, the Pittsburgh Pirates added a pair of right-handers to their roster Thursday.

Montana DuRapau had his contract selected, and Clay Holmes was recalled. DuRapau, 27, was off to a dominating start as a reliever for Indianapolis, and he will replace the bullpen spot of Keone Kela. Kela was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

DuRapau had an 0.63 ERA with 18 strikeouts and a .111 batting average against in 1413 innings over 12 appearances this season with Indianapolis. He was a 32nd-round pick of the Pirates five years ago.

Holmes, 26, has not been as effective for the Triple-A Indians this season: 6.32 ERA and 2.04 WHIP in 1523 innings over 10 appearances. In 11 outings (four starts) for the Pirates last season, Holmes had a 6.84 ERA and 2.01 WHIP.

Tyler Lyons, 31, made three appearances for the Pirates during the week he spent on the roster, allowing five runs, six hits and three walks in four innings. He was the loser during Wednesday’s defeat to the Texas Rangers. He won Sunday’s game despite allowing two runs in his second inning of relief.
