The Pittsburgh Pirates made a pair of moves to bolster their struggling bullpen Tuesday, placing right-handed relievers Kyle Crick and Clay Holmes on the 10-day injured list.
Crick has a right shoulder strain, Holmes a right forearm strain.
To replace them on the 30-man major league roster, the Pirates recalled right-hander Geoff Hartlieb and selected lefty Miguel Del Pozo from their satellite camp in Altoona.
Crick appeared in two games, allowing four runs on two hits with two strikeouts and a walk in two-thirds of an inning Saturday in a 9-1 loss at St. Louis and giving up a two-run double Monday against Milwaukee.
Holmes gave up two hits and had a strikeout in Friday’s 5-4 loss at St. Louis. Holmes is on the IL retroactive to July 25.
Hartlieb was 0-1 with a 9.o0 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in 29 appearances for the Pirates last season. Del Pozo was 1-1 with a 10.61 ERA and 1.93 WHIP in 17 appearances for the Los Angeles Angels.
